MLB DFS Weather Tuesday June 7

Brief Summary (6:20 PM Update):

PPD Threats: None

Delay Threats: None

Good Hitting Environments: PIT, BAL, NYY, DET, TEX

Poor Hitting Environments: LAD, SD, SF

Forecasting Analysis:

 Current radar:

NYM at PIT, KC at BAL, LAA at NYY, CHC at PHL, TOR at DET

All 5 of these locations will see a slight coverage of showers across their respective regions. The current radar looks a bit worse than what I expect the radar at 7 PM to look like:

VERY LOW CHANCE OF PPD OR DELAY except for LAA @ NYY. This game looks a bit worrisome. By 8 PM the radar should look like this:

So as long as the timing is good on this, this game is not a PPD threat. However, if it is a bit slower....well I still don't think it is a high PPD threat but I guess I can not rule it out. However, seems like an almost perfect situation to use a delayed start to the game. LOW CHANCE OF PPD, MODERATE CHANCE OF A DELAY OR MORE LIKELY A DELAYED START

Sunday, June 5, 2016

MLBDFS Weather Sunday June 5

Brief Summary (Updated at Noon):

PPD Threats: None

Delay Threats: CLE(40%), DET(50%), BAL(45%), PHL(40%), PIT(40%), BOS(20%)

Good Hitting Environments: CLE, BAL, PHL, DET, BOS, TEX

Poor Hitting Environments: MIA, SD, LAD

Forecasting Analysis:

Current radar for the Great Lakes:

 Current radar for the Northeast:

                                                  KC at CLE

A line of tstorms associated with a cold front will approach during the game. 2 PM simulated radar:

Looks like an in-game delay threat for sure! Right now the current radar is wimpy looking so I am not worried about a delayed start to the game. LOW CHANCE OF A PPD, MODERATE CHANCE OF AN IN-GAME DELAY

                                                  CHW at DET

The radar near DET is showing a line of tstorms moving through now. The modelling shows another line of tstorms to form and affect the region (as shown above in the CLE simulated radar). Often, a 1st line of tstorms will steal the available energy needed for the another line to form. This may not be the case though today as a) we can see tstorms forming in central Michigan on the radar shown above and b) the cold front has yet to come through. I am feeling a bit more pessimistic about the chance of delay(s) seeing this 2nd batch of tstorms starting to develop.

Here is the local DET radar with the tstorms circled that I am very nervous about. Best case scenario is that they cause a delayed start to the game and not an in-game delay:

LOW CHANCE OF A PPD (SINCE THIS GAME MAY NOT START DRY); MODERATE CHANCE OF SOME TYPE OF DELAY(S)

NYY at BAL, MIL at PHL

Tstorms, some severe, will rattle the mid-Atlantic region today. I will lump these 2 games in because they start at the same time and of how close they are to each other. 1 PM simulated radar:

So they both should be able to start on time. Whenever a game starts, they do everything in their power to finish it, or at least go the 5 innings they need it to become an official game. We can already see the them for the afternoon though, there will be showers and tstorms around at times (some with heavy downpours), but for much of the game it will be dry.

Seems like things do not get real nasty this far east until around 4 PM:

Hopefully, by this time, both these games are over or very close to being done. There is some risk that tstorms could pop up at any time this afternoon to cause a delay earlier than 4 PM. LOW PPD RISK, MODERATE TO HIGH DELAY RISK ESPECIALLY LATER IN THE GAME

                                                     TOR at BOS

A light, drizzly rain will fall this afternoon, making for a damp and dreary experience at Fenway Park. The rain should not be heavy nor steady until this evening thus they should be able to get this game in.

LOW CHANCE OF PPD, LOW TO MAYBE MODERATE CHANCE OF A DELAY

                                                    LAA at PIT

A cold front will be moving through the region right around scheduled 1st pitch. By 2 PM, the radar should look like this:

So the main rain band has pushed east by then. If this is a bit slower doing so, a delayed start could be warranted. But look towards Ohio! These are instability showers forming and will affect the PIT region all afternoon. They will have briefly heavy rain associated with them and will be quite numerous. LOW CHANCE OF PPD, MODERATE CHANCE OF A DELAY

MLB DFS Weather Tuesday May 24

Brief Summary: (6:50 pm update)

****Showers look to miss NYC****

PPD threat:  none   Delay: STL(slight), MIN (start), TEX (slight), NYY (slight)

Thunderstorms have fired near MIN. Here are the radar and simulated radars for 7, 8 and 9 PM:

**The tstorm west of MIN has weakened a bit just as the models said they should. Makes me optimistic that they will be able to play****

Thunderstorms are forecast to weaken as they approach the Twin Cities but should be passing through around scheduled 1st pitch. A DELAYED START TO THE GAME LOOKS POSSIBLE TO EVEN LIKELY. PPD LOOKS LOW, THREAT OF ANOTHER DELAY LOW AS WELL

Monday, May 23, 2016

MLB DFS Weather Monday May 23

Brief Summary (6:55 PM EDT Update):

PPD/Delay threats: WSH and MIN

** Last frame of the radar in DC shows rain lightening up as it heads towards them. Makes more me optimistic that they try to play**

Current radars:

Take a look at the 2 respective radar by clicking MIN and DC

Right from the 2 radars, you can see it is going to rain in DC and the rain trails all the way back to near Lancaster, PA. There is almost a 100% certainty that is will rain at some point in the game. The question is PPD? Delay?

BASED ON WHAT i SEE HERE, DC IS A HIGH DELAY RISK AND A MODERATE PPD RISK
