BOS at NYY will be fine.


TB at LAA comes with a bit of a risk tonight. Slightly worrisome.

The model trends improve as we go through the night but the radar right now is worrisome. LOW TO MODERATE CHANCE OF PPD/DELAY(S)

The 2 other California games (COL at SF, NYM at SD) come with low risk tonight, especially on early-locking sites. I wrote yesterday about the pair of upper-level lows affecting the Lower 48 and the bad weather on both coasts (as well as the spectacular weather in the middle of the country). These 2 systems are still around and have not moved much. Let me show you what they look like halfway up in the atmosphere:

These pair of systems are slow moving, and more important for tonight, difficult to pin down exactly where rain bands will pop up. Let me show you the simulated radar for this evening out West:

So, while there are no bands of rain forecast to be one any of the stadiums this evening, the random nature of where these rain bands can pop up leads me to be somewhat cautious wary in saying that there will be no problems. I would not avoid these games in thinking about lineups early in the day but I would have a backup plan for just in case.

Good Hitting Environments:

WSH at CHC will see warm temperatures and a light breeze blowing out to center.

PIT at STL will see a light breeze blowing out to right with warm temperatures. 

All 3 California games (TB at LAA, COL at SF, NYM at SD) may play slightly different (favor the batters a bit more) because of the higher than normal levels of humidity.

 

Poor Hitting Environments:

BOS at NYY (if played) will see a breeze blowing in and very chilly temperatures.

OAK at BLT will be played (???) in very cool and damp weather.

KC at CLE 7:10: NW winds 5-10 mph which blows in from left. The wind is a 4. Temps in the low 60s falling into the mid 50s. Air density is a 5 becoming a 4.

TEX at DET 7:10: SW winds under 8 mph will blow from right to left. The wind is a 5. Temps in the upper 60s falling into the upper 50s. Air density is a 6 becoming a 4.

MIL at CIN 7:10: Wind light and variable. The wind is a 5. Temps in the mid 60s falling into the mid 50s. Air density is a 5 becoming a 4.

PHL at MIA 7:10: The retractable roof may be open. Wind NW 5-10 mph which blows out to center. The wind is a 6. Temps in the mid to upper 70s falling into the low 70s. Air density is a 7.

AZ at ATL 7:35: NW winds 10-20 mph lessening to 6-12 mph which blows from left to right. The wind is a 5. Temps in the mid to upper 60s falling to near 60. Air density is a 6 becoming a 5.

MIN at CHW 8:10: Wind SW 7-14 mph which blows from right to left. The wind is a 5. Temps in the mid to upper 70s falling to near 70. Air density is a 7 becoming a 6.

SEA at HOU 8:10: The retractable roof will likely be open. Wind ESE 5-10 becoming light and variable. The wind blows from right to left before becoming almost calm. The wind is a 5. Temps near 80 falling to near 70. Air density is a 7 becoming a 6.

PIT at STL 8:15: Wind W 5-10 mph which blows out to right. The wind is a 6. Temps in the mid to upper 70s falling to near 70. Air density is a 7 becoming a 6.

TB at LAA 10:05: SEE BRIEF SUMMARY ABOVE. Wind WSW 10-20 mph which blows out to right. The wind is a 7 or an 8. Temps in the mid 60s falling to near 60. Air density is a 6.
